ACT's SEXploration Week to Launch November 21st
Toronto, November 16, 2005 – The AIDS Committee of Toronto (ACT) presents SEXploration, a week-long series of events for gay and bisexual men designed to stimulate discussion, arouse debate and awaken passions. Leading up to World AIDS Day (Dec. 1st), SEXploration will offer something for everyone, from the silly and light-hearted to the serious and controversial. This year, events will be taking place from Nov. 21st to 27th, 2005.
“Stats have shown that there are a number of issues that gay and bisexual men face that may lead them to engage in high risk behavior for HIV transmission. Creating safe and fun spaces for men to talk about these issues and learn at the same time, are crucial when it comes to the prevention of HIV/AIDS. The SEXploration series does just that,” explains Haran Vijayanathan, ACT’s Gay Men’s Community Education Coordinator and SEXploration co-organizer.
Building on last year’s success, this year's event deals with hot-button topics such as navigating the bathhouse scene, older gay men — hot and unzipped, sex after crystal meth, oral sex for bi men and women, and exploring relationships as a queer Muslim. There will also be a huge party for youth, and the Trans Needs Assessment report will be launched.
Events will take place at various community venues. All events have been developed with the participation of ACT’s community partners.
