Lori Lucier, Executive Director, to leave ACT

    11 September 2008

Dear ACT stakeholders, supporters, and colleagues,

On behalf of the Board of Directors of the AIDS Committee of Toronto (ACT), it is with mixed emotion that we announce Ms. Lori Lucier's decision to step down from her role as Executive Director, effective date to be determined.

Lori has been with ACT for over 11 years; the last five as Executive Director. Her efforts in building the organization have positioned ACT as a locally- and internationally relevant organisation serving those at risk and infected with HIV/AIDS. Under her leadership and direction, the organization undertook many valuable initiatives including the development of a new five year strategic plan to guide the agency. Today ACT is a vibrant organization with a strong future, a defined path, and an important purpose.

Lori has supported ACT staff in developing fundamental and long-standing relationships within the network of HIV/AIDS service organisations in Toronto and across Canada; a practice which will undoubtedly reinforce the agency's effectiveness for many years to come. As Co-Chairs of the Board, we salute Lori for her personal dedication, professional diligence, and appreciate her significant contributions to the cause and to the agency. This depth of service has earned her the respect of her colleagues, the Board and the community ACT strives to serve, leaving a legacy characterized by strength, commitment and compassion. She has set an extremely high standard for all who will follow, and we ask that you join with us in wishing Lori nothing but the best in her future endeavours.

The Board of Directors is now initiating a formal search process for a new Executive Director for the AIDS Committee of Toronto. Detailed information on the executive search will be forthcoming.

    Signed,

    Camille Orridge and Karim Karsan
