 Thank you to everyone who came out to support ACT at Pride 2009! We led the parade as Honoured Group this year.
Gay Men's Outreach volunteers also celebrated the 15th anniversary of the program by carrying a banner and distributing 9,600 condom-lube packs in the parade.
An additional eight Pride activities had outreach staff and volunteers from ACT in attendance. A total of 14,969 condoms and 9,490 lube packs were distributed over Pride weekend, reaching a total of 10,688 people! |
| New Harm Reduction Postcard for Youth | |
Fucking Fun (Now With Less Risk!)
That's the title of the sequel to Various Ways of Fucking. It's a harm reduction information postcard developed in partnership between ACT and TRIP! (formerly the Toronto Raver Information Project)
It includes information and safer-sex messaging for gay and bi youth, including information on poppers, hard-on drugs and alcohol.

| Registration Open for Retreats | |
The AIDS Committee of Toronto (ACT), in conjunction with community partners, holds men's retreats and women's retreats.
Both retreats take place at the Wildfire Outdoor Education Centre in Wyevale, Ontario. The retreat is an opportunity for people living with HIV to escape the city, meet their peers and learn from each other. There is no charge to attend, transportation to and from the retreat location is provided, and a child care subsidy is available.
The Men's Wellness Retreat will be held from August 21st to 23rd. The Women's Healing Retreat will be held from September 11th to 13th.

| Volunteer to raise funds for ACT! | |
Do you give good phone? Want to be part of the main event?
We need a few good men and women to help us execute a volunteer telemarketing campaign in the coming months. You will call and thank our supporters, ask for gifts, prepare correspondence, and perform other assigned duties.
We are also looking for individuals who can assist at the office in the lead up to the Scotiabank AIDS Walk for Life on Sunday 13 September 2009; you will help organize and implement the event, assist with team fundraising activities, recruit additional volunteers, and perform other assigned duties.
We need volunteers who can help out 5 hours a week or more, and schedules are flexible. This is a great opportunity to help round out your studies, get some hands-on experience in our fundraising department, and help work towards a world without HIV/AIDS at the same time. Training and support will be provided . . . and fun is guaranteed!

Are you a member of the AIDS Committee of Toronto? Want to become one?
If you haven't renewed since April 1, 2009, your membership has expired!
Members receive the ACT Newsletter and Annual Report, and they support and guide the direction of the agency. By becoming a member, or renewing your membership, you will be able to vote at the 2009 Annual General Meeting, to be held this fall.

This program provides people living with HIV/AIDS, who live on limited income supported by ODSP, Ontario Works, or other support sources, access to furniture and household goods they may need to improve their quality of life.

| Condom Stuffing Parties | |
Providing safer sex materials are an integral component of our community outreach. At condom stuffing parties (organised twice a month), volunteers meet up to package condoms, lubricant, and safer sex information in packs which are distributed during outreach and through our Condom Dispenser Network. In 2008, our volunteers put together over 75,000 condom-lube packs!
Our next parties will be held on the following dates:
- Tuesday, July 28
- Tuesday, August 11
- Tuesday, August 25
