Gay Men's Community Education and Outreach
We provide HIV prevention, training sessions, and workshops to gay and bisexual men, other men who have sex with men, and to the service providers who work with them. We also develop campaigns and other information resources. We provide sexual health information and safer sex materials through five primary means: bathhouse, bar, special event, information table and online outreach. The Info Board, Condom Dispenser, and InterACTion (online community blog - http://www.gayguidetoronto.com/interaction) programs are additional avenues of community outreach. We co-ordinate the production of 40,000 condom lube packs produced annually by ACT volunteers through our condom stuffing parties (http://www.actoronto.org/condomstuffing). For more information, call 416-340-8484 ext. 247 or ext 254.
Harm Reduction Outreach: Gay Youth and Men
This program focuses on the recreational substance use of gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men (MSM). We use a “harm-reduction” approach, providing non-judgmental, factual information about drugs commonly found in Toronto’s gay party scene. Partnering with community agencies and business, we develop campaigns which include print and web-based resources, such as http://www.torontovibe.com and http://www.himynameistina.com. Working with trained volunteers, we supply resources and outreach at various nightclubs and parties and are here to answer questions and make referrals. We also provide workshops/presentations and trainings for service providers and community organizations. Call 416-340-8484 ext. 235 to learn more.
