Fazer o teste ao VIH/HIV no Ontário / Getting the HIV test in Ontario
A única maneira de saber se contraiu o vírus é fazendo um teste (exame) de sangue. Se tiver se envolvido numa relação de alto risco, espere pelo menos quatorze (14) semanas para fazer o teste, desta forma poderá confirmar se foi ou não infectado/a pelo vírus do VIH/ HIV. É importante saber que existe um sistema de clínicas anônimas no Ontário que oferecem a oportunidade de fazer o teste de VIH/ HIV sem que seus famíliares e/ou seu médico de família sejam informados. Não precisa estar legalmente no Canadá para fazer o teste anônimo ao VIH/ HIV. O sangue da pessoa é identificado por um número que a pessoa usa para pedir os seus resultados.
The only way of knowing if you are infected with HIV is doing a specific test for HIV. You need to wait at least 14 (fourteen) weeks from the time you thought you may have been infected with HIV to the time you take the test, otherwise your test result may not be reliable. There are a system of clinics in Ontario that will perform the HIV test anonymously (without any one such as friends, family or your family doctor being notified). You do not need to be legally in Canada to use these anonymous test sites and no official documents are ever asked of you. A number is assigned to you and you use this number to get your test results back.
Também nenhuma documentação oficial será pedida da pessoa para fazer o teste anônimo. Leva mais ou menos duas (2) semanas para se obter o resultado. Está disponível na Hassle Free Clinic o chamado Teste de VIH/ HIV com resultado rápido. Tem que esperar apenas de 5 a 10 minutos para ficar sabendo do resultado do teste, mas é necessário ter hora marcada para realizar o teste.
No official documentation is requred from an individual to be tested anonymously. It takes aproximately two (2) weeks for blood to be anaylised and results obtained. It is available at Hassle Free Clinic the Rapid HIV Test which takes between 5 and 10 minutos to get the result, but is necessary book appointment for this test.
Indica se houve reação no sistema imunológico através da criação de anticorpos para VIH/ HIV e é assim que se determina se a pessoa está ou não infectado com o vírus do VIH/ HIV. É necessário que exista uma grande quantidade de Anticorpos no corpo, para que se possa detectar a presença do VIH/HIV. Por essa razão, tem que esperar por um período de catorze (14) semanas, após ter se envolvido numa actividade de risco, para assim confirmar ao certo se a pessoa contraiu ou não o vírus. Caso contrário, o resultado do teste pode não ser correto. O período de tempo entre a infecção pelo VIH/HIV e a formação dos Anticorpos é chamado em Português de “Janela ” e em Inglês “The Window Period”.
This HIV test indicates if your body has generated an immune response as a result of being infected with HIV. Your body shows that you have been infected with HIV by creating antibodies to the HIV, which show up in your blood. In order for these antibodies to appear in quantities large enough to be detected by the HIV test, a total of 14 weeks must pass before your last suspected exposure to HIV. This time period is often referred to as the “window period.”
Se os Anticorpos não foram detectados, o resultado será negativo. (em inglês é chamado de “HIV- Negative”), e em português “VIH Negativo/a”. Isto significa que a pessoa não foi infectada com o VIH/HIV.
If antibodies are not detected, the result in “non-reactive” and the person is said to be “HIV negative”. This means that the person was NOT infected with HIV.
Se os anticorpos forem detectados , o resultado do teste será positivo (“reactive.”) A pessoa é HIV-positiva e/ou sero-positiva. Isto significa que a pessoa foi infectada com o HIV/VIH.
If antibodies are detected, the result is “reactive” and the person is said to be “HIV-positive” or “sero-positive.” This means that the person WAS infected with HIV.
