PYO: Positive Youth Outreach
PYO is a peer based program at ACT that offers a variety of services to young people ages 16 - 29. PYO empowers, supports, and affirms the lives of young people under 30 living with HIV. All of our programs and services recognise the inherent resilience of young people living with HIV and all our programming is developed to build strengths and nurture assets.
PYO programming aims to address all aspects of young people's lives, in order to reduce isolation, self-destructive behaviours, and the cycle of oppression. We advocate to ensure that as young people living with HIV we can live happier, healthier lives as engaged and active people. We support the leadership and personal development of HIV-positive peers through education, skills development, support and leadership development opportunities.
PYO also develops and distributes information about HIV, sexual health and young people and makes it available on-line and in the places where young people go to hang out.
