Research with a Purpose

Research on HIV/AIDS prevention education, outreach and support services is an important part of ACT's work. Research projects are generally conducted in partnership with university-based researchers and organizations involved in HIV/AIDS issues.

ACT’s research program serves the following purposes:
    • To provide support for ACT’s programs and services;
    • To provide support for ACT’s strategic priorities;
    • To promote or facilitate community development;
    • To build research capacity among ACT’s staff, volunteers and community-based partners.

ACT develops its research program with the input and advice of a Research Advisory Committee (RAC). The RAC has developed Research Directions that guide research at ACT. In addition, research activities are implemented within the framework of our guiding principles. Each Research project may have its own project advisory committee.

Research at ACT is a process which involves the community and other important stakeholders. Read our 'Reseach with a Purpose' brochure and view our research processes diagram.
