Summary:
This key focus of this role is to provide clients with pre-employment (job preparedness) coaching, counselling and referrals for training opportunities for those entering/re-entering the workforce. This role will work within the Employment Action team to coordinate employment services aimed at increasing accessibility to the current labour market for PHAs. Specific duties and responsibilities will also include, but are not limited to the following and may be subject to change:


Pre-Employment Support
    1. Conducts intake and assesses suitability, skills, job preparedness and support requirements for individuals facing multiple barriers to entering/re-entering the workforce.
    2. Provides counselling and direction for individuals and information regarding the need to develop an employment plan consistent with available funding for employment supports (e.g., ODSP, EI, CP, LTD).
    3. Provides support, consultation and advice regarding disability benefits issues and options related to training and employment.
    4. Manages a full caseload of clients ensuring that written documentation for each file is consistently up to date.
    5. Develops and maintains knowledge of training/education opportunities along with current labour market trends to assist job applicants [clients] on employment requirements to obtain a suitable match between job seeker and employer.
    6. Keeping up to date on referral sources by liaising via outreach with Community Partners.
    7. Assisting clients with various components of the application process for internal and external training.
    8. Conducts in-house vocational assessment and provides feedback to clients.
    9. Assisting clients with various components of business etiquette such as: thank you letters, resume development, cover and response letters, job search methods and strategies, communication with prospective employers etc.
    10. Participates on teams and external committees to communicate information, resolve problems and achieve the goals of the organization.


Volunteer Management
    1. Provides supervision and training to volunteers in order to provide a variety of client services including; computer training, resume/cover letter writing, interview coaching and other workshops as required.

Administration & General Duties
    1. Documents information, including statistical information.
    2. Prepares a variety of reports for ACT management staff as required.
    3. Develops and evaluates a program work plan and budget in collaboration with team.
    4. Completes Job Search Action Plan in collaboration with Employment Plan, client request forms and supporting documents to ensure accountability for ODSP expenditures.
    5. Participates on teams and external committees to plan, coordinate and deliver new and existing services, communicate information, resolve problems and achieve the goals of the organization.
    6. In addition to compliance with all organizational policies and procedures, the incumbent is also expected to behave ethically, demonstrate competence in effective communication and team building, demonstrate effectiveness in working in a collaborative environment, and demonstrate confidence in decision-making and in building relationships.
