RECRUITING

Executive Director approval is required before recruiting for any position.

All bargaining unit positions (new and vacant) are posted internally in accordance with the Collective Agreement, article 18, for seven working days on ACT's electronic bulletin board. Full-time, part-time and contract employees with the required qualifications are encouraged to apply.

External advertising occurs on a discretionary basis. As a minimum requirement, all ACT jobs will be advertised in Now as well as Xtra!

All internal postings and external advertisements contain relevant information and comply with government regulations regarding equity and human rights.

The following tag line will appear on all ads:
ACT is committed to employment equity initiatives. We therefore encourage women and members of minority groups, including people living with HIV/AIDS as well as other disabilities, members of visible minority groups and aboriginal peoples to apply and self-identify.

Some postings are designated for PHAs. All other postings encourage persons living with HIV/AIDS to apply. (Also see Reasonable Accommodation in Employment Policies, HR # 2-10.)

SELECTING/HIRING

Only the Executive Director is authorized to hire employees at the AIDS Committee of Toronto (ACT).

VOLUNTEER HIRING

Volunteers are not members of the bargaining unit and are not eligible for internal postings, however:

1. ACT attempts to notify volunteers of the agency's job related external postings, and

2. when possible, volunteers in a particular area are offered the first opportunity to fill temporary vacancies.
