PARKING/TRAFFIC VIOLATIONS
PARKING
Employees and volunteers of the AIDS Committee of Toronto (ACT) are responsible for finding and personally paying for parking.
ACT leases three parking spots as part of our arrangement at 399 Church Street. These three spots are designated for parking related to agency business. Parking will be made available to staff of ACT who require the use of a car to conduct agency business, on the following priority basis:
PARKING SPOT #1: AGENCY VAN
One parking spot will always be designated for the use of ACT’s agency van. ACT’s DRIVES PROGRAM has first priority for the use of this van. Should other staff require the van for agency business, they must first check availability of the van with the Practical Assistance Coordinator(s).
The agency van may be used by ACT staff for the purpose of conducting agency business, dependent on priorities set out in this policy (3-240).
PARKING SPOT #2: STAFF WITH DISABILITIES/AGENCY BUSINESS
This parking spot is primarily for use by staff with disabilities that require use of a car to come to work at 399 Church Street. ACT’s Director of Human Resources must approve designation of this parking spot for a staff person with a disability.
In the event that there are no such staff employed at ACT, this parking spot will be made available to ACT staff who require the use of a car to conduct agency business. Access to this parking spot can be obtained through ACT’s on-line sign-up system, which will make space available to staff on a first-come, first-served basis.
A parking garage door opener will be available for sign out with ACT’s Office Coordinator. Garage door openers will be signed out to staff that have already signed out an agency parking spot. Openers must be returned to the Office Coordinator by 5:00 p.m. (Monday to Thursday) and 4:00 p.m. (on Friday) on the day in which the staff person used the parking spot.
PARKING SPOT #3: AGENCY BUSINESS
This parking spot is designated for use by staff that require the use of a car to conduct agency business.
Openers must be returned to the Office Coordinator by Noon the day following the day in which the staff or volunteer used the parking spot.
TRAFFIC VIOLATIONS
Employees and volunteers using either their personal automobiles, or one owned by or leased to ACT, are expected to drive and park within the law.
Employees and volunteers are responsible for costs for traffic violations occurring in their personal automobiles. The Executive Director, in exceptional or emergency circumstances, may waive this.
If a traffic violation occurs when an employee or volunteer is using an ACT owned or leased vehicle, this must be reported to the manager within five days and costs for the violations are paid by ACT. Excessive numbers of violations may result in suspension of this privilege.
