EMPLOYMENT CATEGORIES


All non-management employees are members of the bargaining unit and are required to pay Union dues.

Employees may be permanent full-time, permanent part-time, temporary, or contract.

A PERMANENT FULL-TIME EMPLOYEE:

1. regularly works 22.5 up to 37.5 hours per week exclusive of meal periods, and

2. is paid on a salaried, semi-monthly basis.

A PERMANENT PART-TIME EMPLOYEE:

1. regularly works less than 22.5 hours per week exclusive of meal periods, and

2. is paid on a salaried, semi-monthly basis.

A TEMPORARY EMPLOYEE:

1. a) replaces an employee who is on approved leave for the duration of the leave, or

b) works during periods of peak or excessive workload for a period of eight weeks or less,

2. is paid the bargaining unit entry level rate of pay for the assumed position, and

3. does not receive benefits.

A CONTRACT EMPLOYEE:

1. is hired for a predetermined period of up to 365 calendar days or longer if agreed to in writing by the AIDS Committee of Toronto (ACT) and the bargaining unit in order to:

a) work on a specific task or project, or


b) perform work which is funded by special grants,

2. is paid on an hourly, semi-monthly basis, and

3. does not receive benefits.

SECONDED EMPLOYEES

If ACT seconds a permanent employee to a one year contract position, the employee:

1. is paid semi-monthly at the same salary or more,

2. continues to receive benefits and accrue seniority, and

3. may return to the original position upon completion of the contract.
