ACT BENEFIT PROGRAMS

The Board supports the provision of an employee benefit package which compares favourably to that of similar agencies and provides incentive for employees to remain on staff. In addition to legislated benefits, benefits listed below are available to permanent employees.

- Health Spending Account (for drug costs only)

- Extended Health Services (EHS)

- Dental Care Plan

- Vision Care Plan

- Sick Leave (including Short-Term Illness Plan) (see Sick Leave, HR # 6-30 and Collective Agreement, Letter of Understanding #2)

- Pension Plan (after a two year waiting period)

- Employee Assistance Program

The Health Care Spending Account, Extended Health Services, Dental Care Plan and Vision Care Plan are purchased from a carrier determined by the Board. The percentage of premium to be paid by the employer/employee is determined through Union negotiations and must be ratified by the Board.

Descriptive brochures from the benefit carriers are available from the Human Resources Coordinator to all employees upon plan enrollment and whenever plans are updated.

PENSION PLAN

Employees must enrol in the AIDS Committee of Toronto (ACT) Pension Plan on the first day of the month following their two year anniversary. ACT and the employee each contribute a percentage based on the employee's earnings, as may be adjusted from time to time to maintain the plan. After four years of full-time employment, employees are vested. A booklet containing full details of the Plan is available from the Human Resources Coordinator.

ACT has no independent long-term disability insurance, however:

1. Employees now on long-term disability will continue to receive full benefit coverage. Extended health benefits are available to ACT employees on long-term disability.

2. Employees who become permanently disabled can access the ACT Pension Plan provided they meet the eligibility criteria to access the Canada Pension Plan.
