POLICY
PERSONAL AUTOMOBILES


When on AIDS Committee of Toronto (ACT) business, employees/volunteers may use personal automobiles or public transit.

Employees/volunteers who use their own vehicles or take public transit for ACT business may be reimbursed. If using their own vehicles, employees receive a kilometre allowance in accordance with Travel Expense Claims, AM # 5-50. (See Collective Agreement, 27.1.)

Employees/volunteers who use their own vehicles for ACT business and do not transport service users must carry one million dollars in Public Liability and Property Damage Insurance and Major Medical Benefits with no fault insurance. Employees/volunteers are responsible for the policy and full premiums for the insurance.

TRANSPORTING SERVICE USERS

Employees

Employees who use their own vehicles for ACT business and who transport service users as a requirement of their position must carry an all inclusive business use policy of two million dollars in Public Liability and Property Damage Insurance and Major Medical Benefits with no fault insurance. The employee is responsible for the policy and insurance premiums; however, ACT reimburses employees for the premium differential for the upgrade from one million to two million liability.

Volunteers

Volunteers who use their own vehicles for ACT business and who transport service users as a requirement of their volunteer activity must carry an all inclusive business use policy of two million dollars in Public Liability and Property Damage Insurance and Major Medical Benefits with no fault insurance. The volunteer is responsible for the policy and insurance premiums.
