POLICY
COUNSELLING: PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
GOAL
The goal of the Counselling service is to provide individuals, couples, and families with client centred, goal oriented counselling which focusses on empowering clients and providing clients with a continuum of services including assessment, referral, support and advocacy.
STAFFING
Counselling is staffed by counsellors who report to the Director of Support Services.
LOCATION AND HOURS
Counselling services are offered at ACT during regular hours of operation, and off-site with prior arrangement/agreement.

EVALUATION
Counselling Service is evaluated in the following ways:
1. Direct client feedback is sought.
2. The contact evaluation form, How are We Doing?, is distributed periodically to clients for feedback on the Program.
3. Team discussion and a mid-year workplan review provide feedback on the progress of the Program.
4. Internal and external clinical supervision provide feedback.
5. Periodically, focus groups are organized with clients, volunteers, and/or representatives from other community based AIDS organizations to evaluate the Program.
