EDUCATION/RESOURCE MATERIALS PRODUCTION


Employees producing new education, resource or campaign material at the AIDS Committee of Toronto (ACT) will:

1. Determine a need for the material by conducting research and documenting results. This may include:

xxxxxa) a literature review;

xxxxxb) a needs assessment with the target audience; and/or

xxxxxc) consultation with agency staff, staff of other AIDS service organizations (ASOs), and community groups.

2. Once a need is established, develop a project proposal including:

xxxxxa) explanation of need for resource;

xxxxxb) goal(s) and objective(s) of materials;

xxxxxc) time lines for completion, distribution, and/or communication plans;

xxxxxd) project budget;

xxxxxe) evaluation plan; and

xxxxxf) preliminary concepts for the elements and messages of the resource.

3. Forward proposal to the department manager for comment and review.

4. Conduct focus testing with the target audience to seek out emerging issues and themes and to ensure that the resource is relative and responsive to community needs.

5. Provide initial text of written materials to team/department members, the department manager and Communications Coordinator for review, feedback and comments.

6. Arrange for:

xxxxxa) focus testing of the proposed text/design with the target audience; and

xxxxxb) consultations with internal and external sources, e.g., networks, other community agencies.

7. Obtain final approval of the text for all resource materials from the Communications Coordinator and from the funding officers if applicable.

Note: Copies of education, resource and campaign materials as well as focus group reports should be forwarded to the Library.
