ABUSE - CHILD
1. Employees and volunteers must immediately report any indication, observation, or suspicion of past, present or impending abuse of a child to a supervisor.
The AIDS Committee of Toronto (ACT) complies with Ontario's Child and Family Services Act (CFSA) S72,(3), Duty to Report which states:
a professional or official who in the course of his/her duties with respect to a child (under 16 years) has reasonable grounds to suspect that a child is or may be suffering or may have suffered abuse shall report forthwith the suspicion and information upon which it is based to a Children's Aid Society.
2. Clients who have or are experiencing abuse may be referred to an appropriate agency for support.
3. Although confidentiality remains the right of all clients, a person may legally be required to report confidential communications in order to comply with the Child and Family Services Act.
