EDUCATION/RESOURCE MATERIALS PRODUCTION

The AIDS Committee of Toronto (ACT) produces a wide range of education, resource and campaign materials. In order to ensure that these materials are relevant to their intended audience, the language, imagery and format used must be culturally and linguistically appropriate to the target community.

All education, resource and campaign materials must undergo a developmental process (see Education/Resource Materials Production, PS # 1-171) which includes research, consultation, and focus testing with the target audience to ensure the material's language, imagery and format is relevant and culturally appropriate to that audience.

To ensure increased understanding by the intended audience, ACT uses clear, direct language and avoids medical/technical terms in resource material.

ACT also believes that the imagery used in printed/visual materials should reflect the ethnocultural diversity of the communities that ACT serves.
