SERVICE USER RIGHTS
CONFIDENTIALITY
Service users have the right to expect that the AIDS Committee of Toronto (ACT) will maintain the confidentiality of all written and oral information about the services they receive. This does not apply to statistical data which funding agencies require. However, no names are attached to ACT statistics.

CONSIDERATE AND RESPECTFUL SERVICE
Service users have the right to receive considerate, dignified, and respectful care and service from all ACT employees and volunteers.
BE INFORMED
Service users have the right to information about the services ACT provides, how to use these services, and the reasons why a service is not being provided.
NON-DISCRIMINATION
Service users have the right to quality services without discrimination as to race, creed, colour, place of origin, ethnic origin, ancestry, citizenship, political affiliation, religious affiliation, sex, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, family relationship, HIV status, economic status, identity, disability or record of offences.

BE CONNECTED TO APPROPRIATE SERVICES
Service users have the right to be connected with the resources they need, both within ACT and at other agencies.

A RESPONSE TO COMPLAINTS
Service users have the right to expect a respectful and timely response to all complaints regarding their relationship with ACT.

REFUSE/TERMINATE SERVICES
Service users have the right to refuse to participate in any of ACT's programs, or stop taking part, without recrimination.
DECLINE TO PARTICIPATE IN RESEARCH
Service users have the right to refuse to participate in any research project at ACT, without recrimination. If a service user agrees to participate in research, that service user has the right to discontinue participation at any time, without recrimination.
