PROCEDURE
BUDDY PROGRAM: VOLUNTEER SUPPORT
After a volunteer and client have been matched in the Buddy Program:
xxx1.xxxThe Buddy Program Coordinator follows up with the client and volunteer in two to three weeks to ensure the match is going well and that the client's needs are being met.
xxx2.xxxThroughout the course of the relationship, the Buddy Program Coordinator:
xxxxxxxxxxa) provides regular support and supervision to the volunteer by way of monthly volunteer team meetings, and
xxxxxxxxxb) maintains regular contact with the client.
xxx3.xxxIf the match ends due to the death of the client, the volunteer is required to take a minimum three month bereavement leave before being eligible to become a volunteer Buddy again. The volunteer continues to receive support through attending the volunteer team meetings and may access the AIDS Committee of Toronto bereavement counselling and/or support groups.
