Purpose | The purpose of this position is to help the client to feel confident in an interview setting by guiding them through the process and providing a more relaxed setting through which to practice and prepare. Often the interview can be very intimidating to clients so it is important to provide them with the tools necessary so they can better respond to questions in a way that accentuates strengths. In this way the role is also a motivational one. | ||
Time Commitment | 1.5 hours per week for 6Hrs/ months | ||
Duties | The Volunteer will: -To provide constuctive feedback that will enhance client interviewing skills. - Provide one on one coaching tailored to the individual concerns and needs of each client - Sytematically decrease anxiety associated with interviewing by creating mock interview scenarios | ||
Personal Qualities and Skills | Required Qualities & Skills: -Strong interviewing background that include familiarity with different types of questions, stages of interviews and types of interviews. -Strong interpersonal skills & motivational skills. - Knowledge of HIV specific concerns & other disabilities in the workplace. -Working knowledge and understanding of the Employment Standard Act. -Ability to work with diverse populations. | ||
Training Requirements | Volunteer Core Skills Training, On-the-job Training with Supervisor and/or other Volunteers | ||
