Purpose | To assist program staff and other volunteers with the preparation of pamphlets, condom packs, posters and other materials for distribution to the community | ||
Benefits | Great social and informal get together opportunity because all tasks are performed in group setting. Refreshments are provided. The setting is wheelchair accessible, and usually multiethnic in context | ||
Time Commitment | 3 hours per week for once a month for 12 months Details: Program staff are asking volunteers to attend one condom stuffing/materials preparation per month for three hours - there will be a couple of times scheduled over a month to provide an opportunity to attend. | ||
Duties | The Volunteer will: -stuffing paper mainly Portuguese literature, condoms, and lubes into plastic pockets for distribution to gay, bisexual and other men who have sex with men -applying stickers to posters or containers -folding pamphlets and stapling booklets -being able to speak Portuguese is not required to do this job but highly desirable -core skills training is not required to do this job | ||
Personal Qualities and Skills | Required Qualities & Skills: -open minded and non-judgemental about ethnic origins and sexual practices and behaviours of peers in casual setting -sensitive in the discussion of sexually loaded matters when in a diverse social setting -comfortable in talking about sexual issues -practical ability to converse in Portuguese or English would be an asset -able to work in a friendly team capacity with other volunteers and staff, and give and take constructive feedback to and from peers and staff -ability to do repetitive tasks while paying attention to quality of finished product | ||
