Purpose | To provide assessment, information provision, and referral services to callers and individuals in the Access Centre. | ||

Continuing education on emerging issues, new campaigns, and events at ACT. Opportunities to participate in the planning and development of Access Centre-Infodesk programs. | ||
Time Commitment | 4 hours per week for 6 months | ||
Duties | The Volunteer will: - answer calls through our main telephone system - greet walk-in clients/visitors - determine the needs of callers & walk-in clients/visitors - provide basic information on internal & community services - direct callers & clients/visitors to appropriate internal/external services, including the Service Access Coordinator and the Counsellor-on-call - assist clients & visitors in the Resource Library - assist with regular administrative duties (processing incoming/outgoing deliveries, photocopying, mailouts) - participate in ongoing educational activities offered to Access Centre-Infodesk volunteers - provide feedback to the Service Access Coordinator on emerging issues in the Access Centre, the program itself, and additional areas relevant to their professional and life experiences | ||
Personal Qualities and Skills | Required Qualities & Skills: - completion of program-specific orientation/training - completion of three observe shifts on the Infodesk - excellent telephone skills - ability to interact comfortably with the public - basic administrative abilities - active listening skills, basic knowledge of community resources & services, client needs assessment & referral skills would be an asset | ||
