The AIDS Committee of Toronto (ACT) develops and delivers innovative programs and services that promote the dignity, health and well-being of individuals and communities living with, affected by and at risk for HIV/AIDS..





Purpose


To assist People Living with HIV/AIDS
(PHA) with transportation to and from medical appointments.


Benefits


Opportunity to provide practical assistance and support to persons living with HIV/AIDS.


Time Commitment


3 hours per week
for 6 months
Details:
Drivers are asked to devote a few hours per week on a "needed as required" basis.


Duties


The Volunteer will:
- Drive the service user to and from medical appointments.
- Ensure the total confidentiality of all communications with service user.
- Maintain a friendly and supportive atmosphere.
- Attend and participate in periodic volunteer team meetings, skills development workshops and supervision.
- minimum 48 hours notice will be provided per each individual drive.





Personal Qualities
and Skills


Required Qualities & Skills:
- clean driving record.
-sensitive to the needs of others.
-patience and good listening skills.
-a basic understanding of the needs of those with HIV/AIDS
- Agency vehicle provided
