Purpose | To assist People Living with HIV/AIDS (PHA) with transportation to and from medical appointments. | ||
Benefits | Opportunity to provide practical assistance and support to persons living with HIV/AIDS. | ||
Time Commitment | 3 hours per week for 6 months Details: Drivers are asked to devote a few hours per week on a "needed as required" basis. | ||
Duties | The Volunteer will: - Drive the service user to and from medical appointments. - Ensure the total confidentiality of all communications with service user. - Maintain a friendly and supportive atmosphere. - Attend and participate in periodic volunteer team meetings, skills development workshops and supervision. - minimum 48 hours notice will be provided per each individual drive. | ||
Personal Qualities and Skills | Required Qualities & Skills: - clean driving record. -sensitive to the needs of others. -patience and good listening skills. -a basic understanding of the needs of those with HIV/AIDS - Agency vehicle provided | ||
Training Requirements | Volunteer Core Skills Training, On-the-job Training with Supervisor and/or other Volunteers | ||
