To reduce the transmission of HIV and promote the health of men who have sex with men and the communities to which they belong through community based initiatives such as peer education, venue specific outreach, networking, and interagency collaboration.





Purpose


ACT distributes condom lube packs through a network of condom dispensers located in venues where gay men meet to socialize and/or hook up for sex.

Ensure that the condom dispensers are fully stocked and outreach materials are available conveniently and anonymously.

Time Commitment


1 hour per week late afternoon on a weekday for a minimum of 6 months


Duties


The Volunteer will:
Pick up outreach materials at ACT.

Go to the designated community locations where ACT condom dispensers are located.

Restock the dispensers with condom/lube packs. Tidy and restock health promotion pamphlets as needed. Replace featured poster on an occasional basis. Clean dispenser as needed.

Represent ACT to community partner staff and or management.

Able to make general referrals about sexual health that can come up while performing duties.

Call in after each shift. Report any problems or concerns to Gay Men's Outreach Coordinator.

Return outreach bags to ACT.

Required Qualities & Skills:
- Warm, friendly and open personality.
- Professional, responsible and reliable.
- Comfort with being in a public space representing ACT.
- Able to make a referral in occasional conversation.
