Purpose | Many clients need assistance in drafting either a first or updated resume. There is a high demand for this service from clients and it is very time consuming for staff to offer this service on a one/one basis to clients. | ||

Time Commitment | 3 hours per week for 6 months Details: Three hours a day, one day per week (preferably Monday or Friday due to space restrictions). | ||
Duties | The Volunteer will: Meet with job ready clients to review current resume. Offer advice to clients on updating resume to accentuate skills and qualifications and tone down gaps in job history or lack of work experience. For clients lacking in word processing skills, help them to prepare resume as a Word document and save on disc. Do follow up with clients to review suggestions after changes have been made. | ||
Personal Qualities and Skills | Required Qualities & Skills: Proficient in MS Word. Excellent English , writing and grammatical skills. Clearly understand the difference between a functional and chronilogical resume. An understanding of the meaning of marketable, transferable and "soft" skills and how to effectively highlight those skills on a resume. Ability to work with clients from varied ethnic backgrounds. General knowledge of current labour market trends and employer requirements. | ||
