Position Summary:
The Finance & Human Resources Officer is responsible for the coordination of corporate accounting activities and payroll & benefits administration services for ACT. The incumbent will be responsible for the overall general ledger maintenance, accounts reconciliation and production and analysis of financial reports. Also included are responsibilities for the following: interpretation and administration of finance policies and practices, payroll processing and administration, maintenance of the HRMS and employee files, tracking HR data, facilitation of portions of new hire orientation, compensation and benefits administration, and resolving payroll issues.

Qualifications:
  • At least 5 years experience with senior level responsibility for accounting, financial analysis and reporting along with a proven ability to administer financial information systems and perform accounting responsibilities. Experience with fund accounting in a non-profit organization is essential. Post secondary education in a recognized accounting/finance program is required.
  • Expert knowledge of payroll applications, issues and relevant legislation along with at least 5 yrs. experience administering non-union and union payrolls along with experience maintaining or administering pension and benefits.
  • Proven ability to interpret, understand and provide advice on various legislation, policies and agreements related to the Human Resources function, including the Employment Standards Act, the Labour Relations Act, Occupational Health & Safety Act and the Collective Agreement.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Advanced skills in MS applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint in order to prepare analytical reports and budgets. Experience with ACCPAC accounting software is required.
  • Proven analytical skills to conduct research and provide recommendations to management.
  • Committed to ongoing professional development.
  • Understanding of issues related to HIV/AIDS

Salary: $43,000 - $48,000 annually
