Job Description:
ACT seeks a Research Coordinator for the “Development of an HIV Prevention and Sexual Health Intervention for HIV-Positive Gay and Bisexual Men” project. This collaboration between researchers and the provincial Positive Prevention Working Group (PPWG) will develop a new intervention strategy for HIV-positive men who have sex with men (MSM) that promotes sexual health in a community-based framework. This is the first phase of a project that will lead to running a pilot of the program with HIV-positive gay and bisexual men.
Responsibilities:
Overall project management, including:
· Arrange and take minutes for all research team meetings and regular program development meetings
· Develop advertising and recruitment materials for focus groups
· Recruit focus group members
· Identify and arrange training opportunities for facilitators
· Contact and gather information from experts in the field
· Assess programs under review
· Identify and engage counselling referrals
· Develop webpage with ACT staff, and
· Data gathering for report to funder.
Other
· Participates on teams and external committees to communicate information, resolve problems and achieve the goals of the organization
· Participates in staff, volunteer and peer facilitator training
· Complies with The AIDS Committee of Toronto policies and procedures
· Performs other tasks as assigned by management
Qualifications
· Understanding of and ability to work with, communities of gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men
· Knowledge of issues related to HIV prevention
· Ability to implement research projects
· Experience managing and analyzing qualitative and/or quantitative data
· Experience with common office computer applications
· Experience with project management
· Volunteer management experience
· Ability to work independently in a team environment
· Excellent written and oral communication skills
· This position is ideal for candidates with graduate training in psychology, sociology, health studies, or related disciplines.
Salary: $39,600 annually (pro-rated)
