Canada
Since 1985, men have accounted for 83% of all positive HIV test reports in Canada. Gay, bisexual men and other men who have sex with men (MSM) have accounted for 68.1% of HIV infections among men, and 63.3% of all positive HIV test reports in Canada.
In 2001, MSM accounted for 36.5% of all positive HIV test reports in Canada. Since then, infections rates among MSM have been relatively stable, peaking at 43.7% in 2004 and dropping down to 39.6% in 2006.
Ontario
Between 1985 and 2005, men accounted for 82.4% of all positive HIV test reports. Of those, MSM account for 77.6% of HIV infections among men in Ontario.
Since 1985, MSM have accounted for 68.2% of all positive HIV test reports.
In 2005, MSM accounted for 50.4% of all positive HIV test reports in Ontario.
Toronto
Between 1985 and 2005, MSM have accounted for 78.5% of all positive HIV test reports in the City of Toronto.
In 2005, MSM accounted for 57.2% of all positive HIV test reports in the city of Toronto.
In 2006, MSM accounted for 67.2% of all positive HIV test reports in the city of Toronto.
