History of the thesaurus
- First edition published in 2000 by ACT librarians Mark Robertson and Mary Anne Howse and was used to describe books, videos, and audiocassettes in the library catalogue
- Modified in 2002 for use with journal article indexing. First edition continued to be used separately for all other formats (books, etc.); modified version not published
- First edition and modified versions merged and revised in 2005-2006 by ACT librarians Erica Lee and Bill Jeffery and published as second edition in December 2006
- The ACT HIV/AIDS Thesaurus complements the HIV/AIDS Treatment Thesaurus of the Canadian AIDS Treatment Information Exchange (CATIE); for additional terms on treatment, see CATIE’s thesaurus at www.catie.ca
- The AIDS Information Classification and Index was also published by ACT librarian John Dunham in 1990 to organize the library’s Information Files; although the Information Files were discontinued in 2002, you can contact the Library for information on the Classification and Index
