HIV Funding Announced - HIV Self-Testing
Recently, Minister of Health, Jean-Yves Duclos, announced nearly $18 million to expand HIV testing in Canada – with a large portion of the funding directed to purchase at-home HIV testing kits.
All of us at ACT welcome this new funding announcement with open arms. But a word of caution: the facts are Ottawa, and governments throughout Canada, have made many promises to people living with or at risk for HIV that have gone unfulfilled. As a result, funding for HIV prevention and supports have remained stagnant for 15 years.
Provincial HIV Groups Applaud Ontario Parties Promising Drug Coverage for HIV Treatment and Prevention Medications
Led by the HIV/AIDS Medication Access Working Group, comprised of community members and HIV-focused organizations in Ontario, the undersigned community-based organizations supporting people living with or at risk of HIV applaud the commitment of Ontario political parties who, if elected, have committed to ensure no out-of-pocket costs are incurred by people accessing antiretroviral medications to treat or prevent HIV.
